About Sumatran Coffee

Colipse's single origin Sumatra Dark is among the best Indonesian coffee beans, cultivated on the volcanic slopes of Mount Leuser in the Aceh Province, at altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,600 meters above sea level. These arabica coffee beans grow on the rich volcanic soil that enhances the coffee's unique flavor profile. Smallholder farmers (2.5 acres/farmer) cultivate TypicaCatimor, and Timor coffee, producing beans with rich, earthy, and herbal notes. Coffee beans are harvested between June and December. Local farmers use a semi-washed process, including depulping, fermenting, washing, and the Indonesian Giling Basah process. These Sumatra Dark coffee beans are sun-dried to export-ready levels (from 25-30% moisture), then triple-picked (sorted & cleaned three times to ensure high quality) before being exported in 60 kg GrainPro bags from ports like Padang.
