Direct Trade Kenya AA brings exceptional complexity that discerning coffee lovers appreciate. This single origin specialty coffee showcases dark chocolate, grapefruit, and red and green grape notes. The meticulous hand-sorting and traditional washed processing create a vibrant, full-bodied cup that captures the essence of Kenya's renowned coffee heritage.

Kariru Farm produces this outstanding coffee using SL28, Ruiru 11, and SL34 variety beans grown at high altitude (1600-1900 meters above sea level) in the rich volcanic soils of Mount Kenya's slopes. The family has operated this farm since the 1960s, benefiting from cool highland air and evenly distributed rainfall that allows the cherries to develop their distinctively vibrant aroma. Growers hand-sort each cherry before processing, carefully removing any that are under or over-ripe to ensure a clean, defect-free cup. The beans are then washed and sun-dried on raised beds, delivering the exceptional quality that earned this coffee its AA grade.

About Gaia Farm

Kariru Farm sits on the slopes of Mount Kenya, where the rich volcanic soils and cool highland air create ideal conditions for exceptional coffee. This family-operated estate has been producing quality coffee since the 1960s, bringing over 60 years of Kenyan coffee expertise to every harvest.

The farm is part of the Baragwi Farmers Co-operative Society Limited, one of Kenya's oldest cooperatives, registered in 1953 and representing over 18,000 member farmers. The cooperative manages 12 wet mills across Kirinyaga County and works continuously with members to promote best agricultural practices in the field and enhanced processing techniques at the wet mills.

The evenly distributed rainfall and year-round equatorial sunlight, balanced by the refreshing highland air, allow the coffee cherries to develop their vibrantly rich aroma and full-bodied flavor.
